South Korea bids to increase trade with the Dominican Republic
South Korea’s ambassador Lin Byung Taik has reported that trade between
South Korea and the Dominican Republic has started to grow and amounted
to more than US$250 million in the last year.
The ambassador
stated that it is South Korea's aim to continue to increase trade
between the two countries and estimated goals are to be US$400 million
within the next three years, He also added that the embassy aims to
expand cooperation between the two countries, concentrating on
alternative energy, technology, tourism and future housing
construction.
The Korean embassy in the Dominican capital
Santo Domingo was established in 1962, and whilst Dominican interest in
Korean trade was at that time slow, with the new influx of Asian
business and trading interests here in the Dominican Republic and in
other Caribbean countries, the embassy will be adding new staff in the
near future.
China has also been making a substantial business
gains in the Caribbean region and particularly in the Dominican
